Forestry Commission Liaison Meeting

On a cool but mainly sunny April morning 8 members of the society were taken on a tour of various sites within Wyre Forest by Phil and Richard from the Forestry Commission to learn about some of the ongoing work being undertaken. Starting in the Arboretum then moving on to Wimperhill, Earnwood Copse and Birchen Park, various subjects were discussed such as possible future leisure development, adder habitats, invisible fencing, the use of cattle and pigs for conservation grazing and unforeseen tree disease. The morning concluded with a short walk to see a magnificent veteran oak tree in the Birchen Park area of Wyre Forest. Another highlight was the very vocal greeting given by a herd of delightful pigs as can be appreciated in the video clip below...
